PENNIES for PATIENTS
Springfield Elementary School will be participating in the “Pennies for Patients” drive this year, which supports kids with leukemia and other blood cancers. The Student Council will be sponsoring this fund raiser in honor of one of our third graders, Shelby Gabriel. Shelby was diagnosed with leukemia in November 2009, and has been on homebound since that time. The exciting news is that she is making progress and should be back in school after spring break. Our campaign set to begin on February 6th and end on February 24th. Each classroom will have a collection box in which students can drop extra change (dollars or checks made out to The Leukemia, Lymphoma Society will also be accepted). Student Council members will collect the money each day and keep a daily log of the progress for each class. The class collecting the most money will receive a small party in appreciation for their effort. It will be exciting to see how much money we can raise for this worthy cause!
